Fur, Feathers,and Shells

Fur, Feathers, and Shells
by: Mandy Calvin

What if the world became a zoo,
A place were one could just observe
The different types of people and
The secret thoughts that they reserve
The feathered birds that strut about
Might not spend their whole day to preen
If it was not for their conceit
That demands that they be clean
The shy turtles that spend their days
Inside the hollows of their shells
May for a time poke out their head
And look around to sniff the smells
The bear, mighty and strong with claws
Able to rip their prey to shreds
Is there a softer side to them
As cubs frolic in river beds
Search past the fur, feathers, and shells
And find things that we never knew
But every thing cannot be seen
Still if the world became a zoo

This is my 50th post and I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has commented and supported me in writing this blog.  This is quite a milestone for me, and I am pretty sure that I'll be passing many more in the future,  but I'm very proud of how far this blog has come since it began.  So again thank you all for your love and support, it's helped motivate me as blogger, a writer, and a person.

People, birds preening, turtles sniffing, bears clawing. You have given us your world zoo, and we are in it.

Congrats on the 50th post Mandy! Had no idea you were such an accomplished artist and poet. The world we live in is a zoo and we are all a part of it. Hopefully, we will be the beautiful animals that will have the magic to make this planet a better place in which to live...
