A Broken Zipper

Oh how the day was long and hard

Just now had I time to reflect
As I returned inside my home
Away from those autumn breezes
I dropped my bag beside my desk
and went to  the nearby closet
I pulled on my jacket's zipper
Only to have it jam and stop
Getting hotter, already tired
I threw a fit on my zipper
Grumbling my full contempt
Under my breath to no one else
I moved it up, I moved it down
Never the less it moved no more
Than past an inch down from the top
Leaving me jailed, in my jacket
I stared at my zipper, still stuck
But the rage was easing away
I stared and stared and stared some more
Until with my two hands I reached
To the bottom of my jacket
And pulled it off over my head

Oh what a fuss over nothing

wow, this poem could not have come at a better time. My life is exactly like that right now. Everything feels like that jammed zipper! I just wish I could discard all my stress as easily as pulling a jacket over my head. Oh and I love the rhythm in this poem, by the way. Thanks for sharing :)

What a wonderfully realistic piece of written frustration. I know from having a zipper problem with my handbag, just how hot and bothered it makes you feel!!!

Hello.
I'm visiting from the Poetry Pantry.

I enjoyed the way you expressed your frustration.
Zipper tip: Next time, try a tiny spray of WD40...works for me!

Thanks for sharing.

It's amazing how the smallest things become the biggest problems sometimes, isn't it? I've definitely been there.

So many times it IS a fuss over nothing. But we are only human, and we tend to want everything OUR way RIGHT now! Love the poem!

I have a huge problem with turning molehills into mountains. This sums it up perfectly.

I enjoyed your poem very much. It was fun and playful. There is even a sense of Zen to it in its resolution.
Nice Work.

very cute and such a great way to express a problem with a zipper I see this in kids when they get frustrated and when we are in a hurry we do too

I enjoyed this poem. A nice kind of anticlimax there at the end-- I wondered what it might build up to. I certainly know the feeling. There's something about a zipper stopping working that just doesn't seem fair, and I was kind of bemoaning one of them a night or two ago, when in fact it has served me very well for a long time, and its retirement is therefore overdue and well-earned. :-)
